Penelitian Mahasiswa Teknik Biomedik yang dilakukan oleh Kartika A.Alamsyah, S.Si. dengan topik ADVANCES IN MENISCUS SCAFFOLD FABRICATIONS AND BIOCOMPATIBILITY ASSESSMENT: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW. Abstrak penelitian sebagai berikut.
Over the last decade, research in meniscus damage treatment is highly increasing. This interest supported with advances in Tissue Engineering technology, computer and digitalization of medical research and practices. So far, the review on biocompatibility assessment, mechanical properties, and morphology in meniscus scaffold fabrication has not been conducted. This study will discuss the development of meniscus tissue engineering as a scaffold and the interaction of fabricated materials with cellular environment in vitro and in vivo. The aim is to evaluate the performances of fabrication/manufacturing method in meniscus scaffold assessment to meet the biological (clinical), mechanical and morphology requirement. Also, to determine the optimum method fabrication based on material types. Based on
spooling data from 3 databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science) recorded 10, 347 papers eligible as per inclusion criteria. After full text screening focus on keyword “toxicity”, a total of 140 articles were selected, from which 115 articles were excluded. Manual preliminary search regarding “fabrication” resulting 9 papers, while systematic approach generated total 25 papers, so total 34 studies available for qualitative analysis. Even though there is limitation to perform funnel plot and comprehensive statistical analysis for meaningful summary, this finding showed how the overall studies tend to come toward nanocomposite & nanobiocomposite 3D printing as a versatile fabrication method for optimized scaffold in term of mechanical [average tensile stress 257.0 MPa; compressive stress value 0.56 MPa; average tensile strain 121.5%; and elasticity modulus 461.7 (tensile), 7.6 MPa (compressive)], morphological (30 nm pore size), and biological properties (275 % cell viability).
